The CRL 5 to 1 Overhead Balance is a heavy-duty overhead sash balance originally designed with a steel cable and a round hook. It has now been upgraded with a nylon cord and a flat steel hook. It's crucial to specify the balance number stamped into the back of the channel and whether there is one spring or two.
