To ensure solid and reliable two-way sealant bonds, CRL Bond Breaker Tape is the way to go. This robust, clear plastic tape features a clear polyethylene adhesive backing, is eight mils (.2 mm) thick, and offers exceptional adhesion to steel and other structural metals. It's crucial for the sealant to bond to joints in precisely two areas for proper expansion. Any incorrect bonding may result in tearing or excessive stretching, leading to failure. When sealing shallow joints, apply the Bond Breaker Tape to the bottom to ensure the sealant only bonds to the walls. For metal butt joints, carefully apply the tape to the metal edges, allowing the sealant to be smoothly applied over the joint, providing the necessary flexibility for expansion and contraction.
