Product Overview
Each CRL FA Series 4/40 and 5/50 Weight Range Sash Balances require specific types of nylon guides to be riveted onto the top and bottom of the channel. You have the option to order channel balances with pre-attached guides from the factory or order guide kits, which include rivets for self-mounting. Additionally, CRL offers the convenient Cat. No. H3740 Rivet Set Tool, which ensures a secure and durable attachment.
When measuring the length of the metal channel, be sure to exclude the guides. This measurement should be taken at full-inch increments.
Despite the depth of the balance measuring 5/8" (16 mm) and being referred to as 1/2" (13 mm) in the trade, it is important to note that the balances are available in weight ranges of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50, with lengths ranging from 13" to 43" (330 mm to 1.09 m).
Always look for the stamped or laser-etched number on the back of the Channel Balance. This number will consist of either four numbers or two numbers and a letter (e.g., 2710 or 27-1).
Refer to the chart using the numbers on the back of the Channel Balance. For example, if you have a full 18" (457 mm) length channel with the corresponding number on the back of the Channel Balance being 1710 or 17-1, the corresponding CRL Cat. No. is FA1710.
If your Channel Balance has a number 90 or 9 instead of the standard weight ranges (e.g., 2790-26), this indicates that the Channel Balance was specifically made to carry a 26-pound sash weight per pair of Balances. Additionally, if your Channel Balance has "DS" after the length, for example, 27DS-34, this indicates that the pair of Channel Balances was made specifically to carry a 34-pound sash weight. These special weight Channel Balances are sometimes designed specifically for upper or lower sashes only. This information will need to be provided at the time of order.
Lastly, please note that the first two numbers of the CRL Catalog Number do not represent the length of the channel.
