Product Overview

CRL Butyl Architectural Glazing Tape is a highly durable extruded, preformed tape available on release paper rolls. Its butyl rubber formulation is well-known for its proven age and weather-resistant properties, ensuring a long-lasting, flexible weather seal between surfaces subjected to normal expansion/contraction and wind-loading forces. This tape is commonly used as an exterior primary spacing and glazing seal for glass in a window sash, as well as for sealing other architectural surfaces such as metal-to-metal joints, wood-to-glass, and metal-to-plastic. During installation, the tape's designed thickness allows for approximately 10 percent compression to accommodate surface alignments.

Best Practices: When using CRL Glazing Tapes, it is essential to ensure that surfaces to be adhered are free of frost or standing water, brushed clean, solvent-washed (MEK, Toluene, or Naptha), and wiped dry. During installation, positive contact and approximately 10 percent compression are recommended to fully marry surfaces together. Keeping glazing tapes under compression with clips or wedges provides the most effective seals.

Product Warning: Limitations: For applications above two floors, use a spacer, shim, or a structural cap bead (such as silicone) to prevent over-compression or use Load Bearing Glazing Tape.
